Dell XPS Boxing Day Deals 2021
The Dell XPS 13 has been a popular ultrabook for three years running, and it’s easy to see why. The 2019 edition is thinner, lighter, and even more powerful than any of its predecessors — but the biggest changes have taken place inside. It comes with a 48Wh battery in a frame that’s just 11-17mm thick and 2.7 pounds (1.22kg), which is a new record for an ultrabook this small.
8th Generation Core Chips
However, the most important changes concern the innards: Intel’s newest 8th generation Core chips inside support quad-core CPUs as standard and also fully support Thunderbolt 4 it retains its full connectivity potential with these chips. Dell’s also updated the XPS 13’s display and added an infrared camera that offers Windows Hello face authentication, which is a first for any Ultrabook.
In terms of looks, there isn’t much difference between the 2019 XPS 13 and its predecessor. Both have an aluminum chassis with carbon fibre woven around the bottom, and Dell hasn’t tinkered with this winning formula. But while it may look identical to its predecessor on the outside, there’s a lot going on under the hood.
The XPS 13 has a gorgeous 13.3-inch 4K UHD Infinity Edge display that’s brighter than the last model and has a 100% sRGB colour gamut. Dell is claiming a 400-nit brightness level, which is up from 330 nits on the previous XPS 13.
The bezels around the display are thinner too: they’re now down to 5.7mm (from 8.4mm) and they measure in at 6.9mm (from 8.4mm) along the bottom edge, making the display appear larger than it actually is The XPS 13 has an option to upgrade to a full-on 4K UHD touchscreen if you want, which is something Apple’s MacBooks can’t do.
