We have the arctic 7 edition from the steel series. In this video, we’re going over key features seeing who this product would be suitable for how it compares to the competition and whether it’s worth your hard-earned money, so stay tuned. Let’s get into the video. There’s no denying that SteelSeries has some great gaming headsets in its lineup, but the arctic seven does stand out, offering some impressive big premium bangs for you.
Frame Arctis 7
So let’s take a closer look. You’ll find the design is almost identical to the arctic five, but that’s not a bad thing. We love the sleek and streamlined look. It’s got a nice sturdy aluminium frame. The adjustable ski goggle-like suspension band makes it extremely comfortable. It is just the right amount of pressure to keep things nice and snug for extended gaming sessions.
We love the feel of the plush steel series material on the pads. It breathes well to keep your ears from getting overly hot. Now when it comes to the controls, you’ll find them on the bottom of both headphones. There’s a mic mute button volume dial, a 3.5-millimetre micro USB, and four-pin ports on the left side plus, you have the retractable microphone on the right is the power button and the chat mix dial for switching between the game and chat audio channels.
USB Transmitter Headset
We probably wouldn’t say it surpassed studio quality, but the voice clarity was extremely good. It was more than enough for competitive gaming or streaming on Twitch. We even found that for regular chats and calls, our voices sounded natural. The solid noise cancellation did a nice job of filtering out ambient noises around us. Now the big stopper is the lossless 2.4 gigahertz wireless. We know that there’s a lot of gamers out there that shy away from wireless headsets. That’s usually due to latency issues but with the 2.4 gigahertz wireless connection via a USB transmitter.
Driver and DTS Headphones
What you see is what you hear. It’s pretty much instantaneous. You’ll enjoy lossless audio with no lag and no compression, just pure sound. Even when we cranked it up a notch, we found the sound held, and distortion wasn’t a problem. There’s a nice bass boost that meant big explosions are quite prominent, letting you really feel the action. Also notable is the fact that the arctic 7 uses the same speaker drivers and DTS headphone x version 2.0 surround sound found on the more premium arctic pro headset.
Battery & Specifications
Now originally, the battery was rated for 15 hours, but with the firmware update, it’s supposed to go 24 hours on a single charge. That’s a whole lot of gaming, so what’s the verdict? Well, for those that want to cut the cord with a performance-driven set of cans, these might be the ones for you. You get lossless 2.4 gigahertz wireless audio designed for low latency gaming.
